'Last Fair Day Gone Night' - 3LP vinyl released 24th June. Pre-orders available
Katatonia are set to return with a special triple-LP vinyl release featuring an epic set of classics from the band's catalogue. 'Last Fair Day Gone Night' features the Swedish dark rock/metal masters at their glorious best with this electrifying set from London’s esteemed Koko venue during a series of special celebratory shows to mark the band’s 20thanniversary during 2011's ‘Last Fair Day Gone Night’ tour.
Released 24th June on Peaceville Records, 'Last Fair Day Gone Night' is presented on triple heavyweight 180gm vinyl in a deluxe box, with an 8 page 12" book. Pre-order HERE.
Founding members Anders Nyström & Jonas Renkse are joined by long-time drummer Daniel Liljekvist along with recent members - namely guitarist Per Eriksson, plus recently recruited bassist Niklas Sandin - for an exhilarating night fuelled by a rich & extensive set of Katatonia tracks both past & present, including a special performance of the landmark 2001 album 'Last Fair Deal Gone Down’ in it's entirety.

‘BUILDINGS’ LIMITED 7” VINYL FOR RECORD STORE DAY
To coincide with this year’s Record Store Day, set for Saturday 20th April, Sweden’s masters of misery, Katatonia, will release a special limited 7” featuring the track ‘Buildings’, lifted from last year’s universally lauded album, ‘Dead End Kings’.
The title is presented on transparent 7" vinyl &, additionally, features a re-mix of Hypnone (Frank Default Hypnocadence Mix); a track previously unavailable in the USA.

New video 'Lethean' launches
Katatonia, Sweden's dark rock masters, have completed work on their latest video for the track 'Lethean', lifted from last year's acclaimed 'Dead End Kings' opus. The video was shot by Lasse Hoile, notable for his previous work with the Katatonia as well as Opeth & Porcupine Tree.

In related news, it has also been announced that Katatonia are shortlisted for a Swedish Grammy award in the 'Best Metal Album' category for 'Dead End Kings'.
This year also sees the band embark upon an Australian tour with countrymen Opeth in March, as well as an extensive North American tour in April & May.
Released in August 2012, ‘Dead End Kings’ is a rich, adventurous and endlessly evocative masterwork that exhibits all the Swedish quintet’s established traits while absorbing countless fresh ideas into that monumental sonic brew, this is plainly the strongest and most beguiling album in the Katatonia catalogue to date. It also proves that sadness comes in many shades and that no one is safe from its cold allure.
“Dead End Kings represents progression and taking things to the next level,” says Jonas Renkse. ”The writing was a little more intense and spontaneous for this one. I think that’s the biggest difference. But it was made with the same mindset as the last few albums. It just had a little more fire involved.”

North American tour with Opeth set for April/May
Katatonia will join fellow countrymen Opeth for an extensive North American tour throughout April & May. This will also include a special one-off date including Steven Wilson on 28th April.

The classic 'Brave Murder Day' coming to vinyl November 26th
Katatonia’s legendary second album, ‘Brave Murder Day’, will be released on heavyweight black vinyl through Peaceville Records on November 26th. Pre-order here.
Originally released in 1996, ‘Brave Murder Day’ is a true metal classic of the doom/death genre. The hypnotic & primitive structures and melodies lend the album an unparalleled trance-like quality, taking an early Paradise Lost influence (mixed with other diverse artists such as Kent and Slowdive) and forming a completely unique sound and atmosphere.
The majority of the vocal duties were carried out in his signature death-growl style by Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth, while Jonas Renkse delivered clean vocals on the ethereal track, ‘Day’, as well as handling drum duties on the album.
‘Brave Murder Day’ was recorded at Unisound, Sweden, in July 1996, and was engineered by Dan Swanö (Opeth, Marduk, etc).
